October 2019 Prayer Letter 2019年10月プレイヤーレター

5 Autumn Praise Reports
Greetings from Hokkaido!

We have been blessed in many ways since the beginning of the new season, and here’s a list of the top five, in no particular order:

1.  In the first week of September, we reached our monthly support goal after 4.5 months of support raising in Seattle, Hawaii, and Japan.  We thought it would take much longer considering not having any support raising skills or experience, but we realized that with God, none of that matters.  He provided for all our needs (Philippians 4:19) through generous supporters such as yourselves.  Thank you so much!

2.  One of our biggest needs was a bigger place to live, since our entire apartment is about the size of half of most living rooms in the U.S.  Unfortunately, most Japanese landlords don’t like renting to people with wild lifestyles, such as missionaries.  So basically, we needed a wild landlord, and God led us to one- a Canadian from Vancouver!  The apartment he owns is conveniently located in the same area, so we can continue building on our relationships with the neighbors.  It’s also bigger (3/4 of a U.S. living room), so we can still have prayer meetings for the staff of the Christian nursing home, which is also nearby.

3.  One of the main reasons we needed a bigger place was that we are registering to be foster parents, and plan to house foster children in the future.  We passed the initial interview stage despite getting the question wrong about Amana’s birthday.  Those around us, including Miku’s parents, have been supportive, and we believe it will be a great opportunity to share God’s love to the children He brings to us.

4.  We are also praying about someday starting a home for foster children, such as the group home run by the former pastor we met in July.  In order to do this, I need training at a children’s home run by the city.  The group home director introduced me to the director of the nearest children’s home, and I was accepted on the spot.  Interestingly, this is one of the homes that rejected our offer to volunteer there back in July, leading us to find the group home in the first place.  God works in mysterious ways!

5.  In the month of September, at least one of the four of us was sick for 25 out of 30 days.  Thankfully, the “Respect for the Aged” event at the nursing home was on one of the good five days.  The girls performed their hula worship song, and enjoyed interacting with the elders.  We also sang and did the motions to another worship song together.  It is difficult to visit the home when when of us is sick, but we plan to do ministry there at least once or twice a week.

Please pray for us!

Here are our prayer requests for the upcoming month:
・For the move to go smoothly
・For wisdom as we plan for the ministry
・For God to provide more partnerships with other pastors, missionaries, and lay workers to do the ministry with
・For open hearts to the gospel

Thank you so much for your support.  We are so blessed to have you ministering alongside us with your prayers and financial gifts.  God bless you!
