January 2020 Prayer Letter 2020年1月プレイヤーレター

Happy New Year from Hokkaido!

After a busy Christmas season, we had a pretty quiet New Year holiday, and are now back to our normal schedule.  The girls are also back in kindergarten after nearly four (LONG!) weeks of winter vacation.

During Christmas, the girls performed their Christmas hula dance at a store downtown and twice at New Hope Sapporo’s Christmas concert.  We also held helped out at the Christmas party at the nursing home where we used to work, gave a gospel message to the seniors there, and had a Christmas gathering for the staff at our home.  The day after Christmas, we had a home visit from the child welfare office as part of our foster parent registration.  After two days at the infant foster home at the end of this month, the training program will be completed.

A few months ago, I began training at a children’s home in order to get the qualifications needed to run a group foster home.  However, regulations are changing, and in order to get the qualifications, both Miku and I would have to work at the children’s home full-time.  Since this is not possible, we thought I may have to give up the children’s home training altogether, but they wanted me to continue part-time because of the work I can do at the family support center office within the children’s home.  Child welfare is more developed in the U.S. and Great Britain, so being able to translate some of their training materials can be very useful.  The experience is great for me as well, because the center works closely with the city’s child welfare office, supporting foster children and parents, and families dealing with abuse, all people that we would like to minister to in the future.  We may still open a group foster home with experience as foster parents, though it may take longer than we had thought.  We believe this is all part of God’s plan, and that He will lead us to the right ministries in His perfect timing.

“For still the vision awaits its appointed time; it hastens to the end—it will not lie. If it seems slow, wait for it; it will surely come; it will not delay.” Habakkuk 2:3

Please pray for us!
Here are our prayer requests for January:
1. For our foster parent training to finish well, and that we will be accepted
2. For opportunities to share our faith with those we encounter through our training, and at Hosanna Home
3. That through our home fellowship and prayer meetings, our former co-workers will be encouraged to grow in their faith and share the gospel with others.

Prayers being answered!
God has been providing more partnerships with other pastors, missionaries, and lay workers with a similar vision.  This newsletter has been long enough, so more on that in our next one!
Thank you so much for your support.  We are so blessed to have you ministering alongside us with your prayers and financial gifts.  God bless you!
